A generic tarball of the kernel source (possibly already patched) should
be included on the CD.  That way you can always patch up to the latest
version with a couple of large but smaller-than-the-whole-kernel patchs.
They could stick on, say 2.4.3.  Then when 2.4.4 comes out, just download
the patch from kernel.org and you'll have the latest version.  the merge
hook patch should also be on the CD in a separate file
