Hmmm, and I was beginning to hope that it was the aliases that were causing the
problem.

So, now that you have gotten rid of the aliases, how does "ifconfig -a" show the
ethernet device. Is it there as just "eth0" or is it still appearing as
"eth0:0"?

As for that annoying error message about the IP interceptor, that is telling me
that the VNET filter module is asking the VNET interceptor module to set up an
interceptor between the Linux network device and the IP stack to capture IP
traffic, and that this is failing. The most likely cause is that the interceptor
is unable to find the specified network device. Based on your information to
date, I have some ideas why that might be happening. Your answer to my question
above should take me one step closer to the answer.
