OK I wish to retract my origional squeal of frustration.. the load of
#@!^&*%$ seems to be getting considerably lighter (many hours later
however)
It turns out that the installer (3.02) does not or did not do a
thourough enough job of checking for and removing old win4lin ghosts on
my system.
After an exhaustive (manual) witchhunt and purging, the install is now
ticking along as expected.
Thanks to those who laughed/sympathized/empathized..
Now I want my 1.0 license transferred, dammit !
