  Plus, ext3 is the only one which can be applied to an existing
filesystem.  All the others require mkfs-ing.  ext3 also allows
you to boot and mount the filesystem with only ext2 support in
the kernel.

  I've been using it on my desktops, servers and laptop for almost
a year now.  No data errors, no mount failures, and I can use any
install/boot/rescue disks I want - not that I've had to.

  I can also change back to ext2 in about 2 minutes if I need to use
a kernel without ext3 support.

  Dan, thanks for the link.  I spent a couple of days over the last
week or two searching for 2.4.x/ext3 patches with little success.
The only one I found was a source RPM of an ac9 kernel from somewhere
in Europe.  I don't know why UoW(Univerity of Western Australia) didn't
come up - it's certainly closer. <grin>
