VMWare will inevitably run quite slowly on a 266. You should be much
happier with Win4Lin.
I ran 1.0 (which was available as a .deb) and 2.0 and am currently
running 3.0 on Debian. Install the alien package and then run the 3.0
installer, which will fail part way through.
Go to /var/win4lin/installer_tmp and you will find the file
/Win4Lin-5.2.1b-d.i386.rpm (the version might be slightly different,
as there has been an update since I did my installation.
Convert this to a .deb with alien and install this with dpkg.
Run /opt/win4lin/postinst_rpm.sh and you should be in business.
