Hi, I run Debian (on a 366 Dell laptop) and came to win4lin from Vmware.
Very happy with the performance improvement!
I installed win4lin on a (mostly) Debian Potato installation with kernel
2.2.17 which I had to patch manually. That worked without a problem.
Than I ran 'win4lin-install' that came out off the
'netraverse_installer.tgz. This worked great (apart from not giving
appropriate error messages for 'short on diskspace', but the Netraverse
support people helped out there)!
My suggestion would be: forget alien and rpm, run the installer.
Good luck.
