Regarding tag, I will check how maven-release-plugin can be configured to
create branch and not tag.

Please be *very* careful in terms of pushing out artifacts. Example the RC
artifacts should never hit the public maven
repos.
Also please don't create tags till the vote is complete. You can create a
branch if you wish, but not a tag.
