[Winona Online Democracy]

Many thanks to John Finn for alerting us to this article. This year Winona
County Master Gardeners are focusing on promoting water quality. Rain
gardens are not only important to divert parking lot runoff, but also to
homeowners who wish to divert runoff. The greater the impervious surface,
the greater the need for a way to capture that runoff before it makes its
way via our storm sewers to Lake Winona or other body of water.

In addition, Pat Bailey, a Winona County Water Plan Coordinator, will speak
at the Winona County Historical Society on Wednesday, July 16 at noon to
discuss ways in which we can protect our local waters. This event is free
and open to the public.

Please attend this event and contact me or another Winona County Master
Gardener if you would like more information about rain gardens.
