Our City Council members insist that there were no back-room deals cut with the Wal-Mart reps when they visited Winona recently, however it is indisputable that:
THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY DONE
THERE HAS NOT AN ADEQUATE TRAFFIC STUDY DONE
THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY DONE
THE CITY HAS NOT LISTENED TO IT'S CITIZENS ABOUT THEIR CONCERNS
THE CITY HAS NOT TALKED PUBLICLY ABOUT THEIR DEALINGS WITH WAL-MART AND MENARD'S
THE CITY REFUSES TO GET INTO A PUBLIC DISCUSSION ABOUT WAL-MART
While they hold "special meetings', cut off debate when they tire of listening to the public and override the Planning Commissions reasonable decision to advance with caution in this area.
Several weeks ago the Winona First Coalition printed a series of upfront, intelligent questions concerning the Wal-Mart Riverfront Industrial Park matter. Most, if not all, of these questions remain unanswered by our elected officials.
