How ironic that politicians' floats are excluded from Steamboat Days as not being entertaining enough. I for one find politics extremely entertaining. I would match the State Legislature laugh-for-laugh with any clown club and the brash claims of most candidates with any brass band. And of course the real beauty contest we all follow ain't Miss Winona. C'mon Steamboat Days, lighten up. The Mayor kissing babies in the 4th of July parade is practically written into the Declaration of Independence.
