[Winona Online Democracy]

Let's all take a deep breath and see if we can unravel this.  Kathy, I assume removing people from the list is a fairly rare and serious action.  All of us in WOD would benefit from knowing what exactly took place, since this is an experiment and we would all benefit from knowing how this is being run.  Not being familiar with the details of our bylaws I don't know if the process of suspension is intended to be a secret process or if indeed all infractions can and should be made public to the rest of the list.  I would hope it's the latter, similar to our larger legal system - we get to know who's accused, tried, convicted, and for what - all out in the open.  Otherwise the system can get corrupted real fast and no one would know.

To Jerome's footnote - he is protected by the First Amendment (I assume he meant freedom of speech and the press), but not necessarily within a system like WOD which can set its own rules of conduct.  The U.S. Constitution guarantees him the right to set up his own e-mail chat site or newspaper, or to shout his views from the street corner, but I don't think it allows him to do or say anything he wants in any forum whatsoever.   But then I didn't see anything in his recent posts that would seem to violate the spirit or letter of WOD's rules, so I'm not sure what he's worried about.
