Hello Fellow Countrymen and Lurkers,
I love to lurk on WOD as much as Jim
does. I've been amazed over the last year at all the inaccurate things
that have been put to print here, some simply from lack of knowledge, the worst
are the many intentionally planted and pointedly untruthful posts.
My good friend Jim, who knows I love
him and am not attacking him, is in another category. I suppose it could
be inherited by osmosis and spring from his years at the WDN (yesterday's
news tomorrow). The golf club septic system went through an extensive (and
permitted to State standards) upgrade a few years ago. It does not
leak sewage. It was designed by the very same engineer that
Phillips hired to do his recent wetland delineation work. It works at
least as good as the septic systems the city has gotten permits from the county
for and then built into Prairie Island home sites (inside city
limits!) over the last few years.
But really now, who believes this
Pinnacle study commissioned by the city was commissioned for the health, safety,
or welfare of Pleasant Valley residents? It was commissioned purely as a
public relations tool to compel support for the city's position and hostile
actions, to sell hookups, and to start a public
campaign process in hopes of persuading the MPCA to force
hookups. Why do you think they leaked it only to the WDN? We
know absolutely nothing of the process, parameters, or integrity of the
Pinnacle "study" or what valid conclusions can be drawn from it, if
any.
It's not about poop, it's not about need,
it's about greed and taking from your neighbor what he doesn't want to
give.

Folks:
You are epitomizing the findings of SMU and Steve
Schild.
We treat this forum like our driving habits. We would never say
to a member's face, what we say here. We lose our Minnesota nice here and
we wield our criticisms without regard until they bounce back in our face -
then we cry foul.
I appreciated Allan's explanation of Linda's plight.
As a city dweller who spent more than 25 years in the boonies, I can relate to
wanting convenience, but wanting my privacy. We didn't leave town
without a mental check list - Got milk? Pick up the mail? Did I drop off the
movies?
I might have liked a convenience store closer, but like
everyone else, I want it in somebody else's back yard.
and Janice ...
Do you recall how upset neighbors were when Springbook was
proposed?
After Springbrook was developed the county responded by
widening County Road 17 - making the valley ripe for further
development.
The latest news that the soil samples from the site of the
proposed sewer line in the old country club shows contamination is no
surprise. If the MPCA tested the soil on the number 7 fairway they'd find Love
Canal - only it would be all human waste.
The pond at the golf course
is nothing but a sewage pond.
If I lived in Pleasant Valley I'd welcome
anything to the valley that would prompt the homeowners with dysfunctional
sewers to have them repaired. The county doesn't inspect sewers- unless a
property transfers or is the house is remodeled.
Now... will I
get blasted by the people who dominate this forum? I don't care, but I
appreciate their dialog and I lurk and enjoy their banter. Most of the
time the dialog is predictable.

Linda, Blunt
yes, attack no. I only hope that I am measured against the same
standard afforded you. Your monologues have been exceedingly caustic
over the last few months. And now tell me why your "opinions" should
be given more liberty than mine. Yes you are passionate about a
subject, can no one else be so also?
Speaking of "opinions" I read
that "the evil city" has an independent report showing the tributary below
Springbrook is highly contaminated with human waste bacteria.
Pristine?? Someone's privy has a leak!

I think Allen Perry's remarks to Linda Fort are harsh and
uncalled for. We are all intitled to an opinion and have the right to
express them without being personally attacked. Attacks like this do
not win the school district any points with people. My personal opinion
on this, is I agree with Allen. I live in the Country and am reminded
everyday when I make 10 trips back and forth to my home, that I chose
to drive, I chose the inconvenience. My pay off is not to be under the
rule of the City and live in the Country and be surrounded by beauty
when I look out my windows. I don't fault Linda for not liking the
inconvenience. It is her right to voice this without an attack. Janice
