Since some days there is a constant flow of administrative messages announcing bounces and the consequent unsubscribe from this list of the addresses responsible for the bounces. But checking with the administrative interface, often the unsubscribe has not taken place.
Probably somewhere some ISP did put the address of this list in some black lists as spam originator, which obviously is not true. This has already happened in the past, it was fixed not without some efforts by Jeffrey WA6KBL, and it is likely to happen again in the future. I am wondering if it would not be better to move this list to Yahoo. Yahoo is seen by some as the evil, as in the past it was a big generator of spam. But that is a thing of the past. They took some good measures against that, and now, if the list is responsibly administered, one can be sure of receiving absolutely no spam. And I can tell this from the experience I have being the group administrator of three other lists on Yahoo. Besides that, Yahoo offers other possibilities, like optional HTML messages (if you are paranoid and hate HTML, you can always choose to receive plain text messages) where pictures and diagrams can be shown, good archives, a File and Photos sections, etc. About HTML, many think that it is a vehicle of viruses. Well, I am on Internet since more than 15 years, and exchange daily HTML messages with my correspondents, and I still have to catch my first virus... it takes just a bit of caution, a good anti-virus, and mainly to absolutely not use Outlook Express nor Internet Explorer. I am a happy user of Firefox and Thunderbird, and, as said, viruses are not a problem for me. All of the above just to ask your opinion about a move of this list to Yahoo, where I already have a list named Winrad, which was put on hold when moving here, to this Mailman-managed group. If the majority will agree, I suggest that all the subscribers to this list will be moved automatically to the Yahoo list, unless they express a negative will. I have been myself unsubscribed from this list due to bounces, and I am a bit fed up with all its vagaries. I have never had problems with the three Yahoo list which I administer, nor with the other 42 of which I am member. Waiting for your opinions, thanks 73 Alberto I2PHD _______________________________________________ Winrad mailing list [email protected] http://winrad.org/mailman/listinfo/winrad_winrad.org
