Not as familiar with Cisco so this may be moot...

Can you change the supported rates separate from the basic rates?

We ran into something similar with Nintendo DS. On them, you must have
1 or 2 Mbps as basic rates (beacons and broadcasts) enabled on the
network, or they will simply not work. So you're stuck deciding between
supporting Nintendo or running a network with sane throughput.

No idea about the Wii though, but I'm curious. We do have a fair bit of
them around.
