Sandy, We install a UPS on every network room/switch stack. We use Cisco which have a limited life-time warranty, however we subscribed to maintenance for one of each model switch to obtain TAC support and access to firmware revisions.

If you do not build in backup power, do you put your switches on a maintenance contract, or do you pay to replace them when they fail outside of warranty? Thanks very much. Sandy Sandra H.
