Shouldn't the errors be concerning? That is, don't they indicate an actual
problem in the authentication flow?

I don't know of a client that sits there and hammers the wrong credentials,
usually they'll disable or back off of the SSID. Of course, wrong password
will cause failures but not like 40-50% in our experience. We see closer to
10% failures.
