I don't think your baby is likely to have ill
effects, but that definitely wouldn't be a good
enough for me answer if it were my baby (or even my
pregnant wife, for that matter). There is
definitely "alarmist", "paranoid" misinformation on
the web about RF exposure, but I don't think that
there is solid scientific foundation for belief in
its safety. If you do some searching on google you
will find some scientific articles that say cell
phone usage is not known to be safe. Since it isn't
known to be dangerous, we do it, but I wouldn't
expose my kids to it.

802.11 is different from cell phones and from
magnetic fields most significantly in that it uses
the same frequency as microwave ovens. This is the
absorption frequency of water, which is why
microwave ovens work, and why 802.11 devices could
presumably have more of an effect (for a given
amount of power and time of exposure) than cell
phones and magnets. (By directly heating your
body's cells.) If a doctor tells a pregnant woman
not to stand right in front of the microwave oven
for long periods (I don't know if they give that
advice or not), then I'd tell her not to stand too
close to WiFi or Bluetooth devices either. You can
probably find more good research on microwave oven
exposure than on cell phone exposure, in terms of
power and time, and for specific groups like
children and pregnant women. You can calculate the
exposure to your baby based on transmit power and
distance and compare it to recommended safe levels.

802.11a (at 5GHz) and 900 MHz phones might be safer,
if you determine the 2.4GHz devices to be unsafe.
