Radio (and light) radiation work on an inverse-squared ratio - meaning that ever time you double the distance, you only get 1/4 the radiation. I agree with you, I don't like holding a Cell phone an inch from my head, but if that same transmitter is a foot from my head, the amount of radiated energy is now only about 144 time less powerful. If that transmitter is 10 feet away, it's about 1 / 16000th as much radiation. Realistically, if you've got a 802.11b transmitter @ 50mw in your office 50 feet away, behind several walls on the other side of the house, there is an extremely small amount of radiation getting there. It's all about proximity - you'll get more exposure in the three seconds you pick up the live antenna to dust around it than the baby will before it graduates.
