I beleive the recommendations for grounding are to use solid wire, not stranded.  If you can, use #2 or larger.  The goal with grounding, if it is for lightning protection, is to get the lowest impedance possible to ground.  Spread the ground rods out as much as you can.  Connect them each to the tower AND to each other.  Pick a point in that that is your ground point and make sure everything connects to that one point.
