Because for the cost I get 14 hours on my MeanWell/battery combination and about 4 on a UPS with the same batteries. UPS/inverter uses a lot of the power to make the 120VAC. Then I need a power supply to make it 24VDC, which wastes more. Using the MeanWell, or the unit Kurt mentions, allows 1 power supply to provide the DC I need without wasteful conversions. The monitoring is nice and I have that at a couple of sites, but this has been working great for me.
