Funny We find just the opposite.
WD for us has always been a dud. One thing we learned a long long time ago however is to purchase drives from different vendors / distributors Placing in a harddrive right next to another hard drive from the same production batch is not wise... If your going to Raid - get drives that are not closely enough related to the same production line Also - make sure your seagate is a seagate !
