That whole slippery slope thing. Its easy to forget that once they (They are "them." They are "they." That are the Men in Black) it will not be simple or easy. Once telcos really start losing to WISPs you will see them fight all the harder. There are some good telcos out there (IIRC some one on the list who is one asked the FCC to let them give away free or nearly free service, the FCC declined) but by and large, they are evil and they absolutely do not want that to change. I am sure some of the evilness is simply because that is how the game is played, structured, setup and ruled.
