Exactly.  Sit in the other seat.  Say my cost for a 1 meg pipe is 
$500.  If I can sell someone a 1 meg pipe for $35k/month, you bet your 
ass I will.  If they're paying $1k now, knowing that will let me price 
it for $800 instead of not getting any deal at all.  If they tell me 
$54, I know they're full of crap.
