Hi Ben,

The Vista base score is a new system feature that rates how well your
hardware can handle the Vista OS. 

5.9 is the top of the rating scale at the moment, but that'll go up as newer
faster hardware becomes available in the future.

My score was 5.3, which is based on the slowest component in your system. My
Dell Dimension 9200 desktop is only 3 months old.

The idea is that PC makers will start stamping their machines with a score
so consumers can more accurately rate how "fast" a computer is before
buying, generally speaking that is. I think this could be a good idea,
considering I just finished helping my sister buy a new computer and the
whole process was truly confusing to her.
