Hi Rick, My graphic card is the 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS, which is PCIE.
But I have 4Gb RAM, and like XP before it, Vista by default only shows you the first 3Gb and reserves the rest for extra graphic and other hardware resources. You can change this, but it requires some non-standard reconfiguration. When I do 3dFlip as fast as possible, there is no slow down and the processor meter hardly even registers. Very fast and rich. And the extra RAM must be what's making the difference. I'm doing this while also running Remote desktop and two VMWare virtual machines (1st with XP & 500mb RAM, 2nd Windows 2003 Server & 1Gb RAM). Overall, with this setup, I'd say Vista is noticeably faster and more responsive than XP was. If you invest in any extra hardware, maybe get the extra RAM first. By the way, the maximum RAM for Vista Ultimate is 4Gb.
