I'm definitely in favor of incremental implementation.
When you say "Yes, actually the engine can detect any kind of convex polygon
shape overlapping. ", you are speaking of the new engine you are developing,
not the current Wormux one, aren't you ?

If you really plan to do that, I advice you to use regularly svnmerge...
But I advice you to have a look at "quilt" which is a patchset management
tool. It's not at all integrated with svn and you can make a hole in your
foot if you are not rigorous enough but now I can't work without it :)
