Hi Fred,

control of CAT and PTT is delegated to the Hamlib rig control library and it offers no way of doing what you request. It would first need changes to be proposed and contributed to the Hamlib project. I have checked the relevant code and although it is possible it is not a small change.

Is there any way to get PTT control via RTS or DTR on the same serial port as that used for CAT or to use CAT PTT commands instead of serial port control signals?

Hi again Bil

I did and some others did too. Not solved. Earlier I mentioned Remoterig firmware. I tend to believe that the problem there is hardware related, which makes the "cure" only viable in future HW release.

Bill, would that be so difficult to implement ? I think that rising each line or both  is quite close. Alternatively you could have the boxes to set the lines high as in the CAT section. That would do it too.

Out of context it may seem to be unnecessary. However this is dear for Remoterig users who use remote stations without a computer installed in the far end, as myself. If I can't PTT with this COM, I loose a COM functionality, which is a limited resource.

Anyway I thank you for evaluating the possibility to change this in a future version.

Regards  Fred

Bill, per my understanding we can  only force  CAT COM port
RTS/DTR signals to High. Not PTT COM. Am I wrong ?

This problem is known by Remoterig users. Anyway, the
implementation of Remoterig requires that both lines go to
HIGH to activate PTT. As I explained it is an heritage of
        MMTTY which rises both lines.

    HI Fred,

I am sorry, you are correct and only the RTS and DTR signals of
the CAT connection serial port can be controlled directly. Has
anyone considered raising this issue with the Remoterig providers
as it seems a very onerous requirement that is quite unnecessary.
