What this prevents, for example, is working CW on your rig and then
switching to WSJT-X can blast audio that can actually hurt your ears

Hi Mike,
if you mean mute the rig's volume, then that is going to be pretty
patchy coverage as most rigs don't have that CAT command. Otherwise I
don't understand what you are proposing to mute.
