Hi Martin,
thanks, that will be helpful. It would not be the first rig that doesn't
correctly apply "OR" logic to multiple sources of PTT.

Hi again Bill, I've just got round to repeating the tests with the hard-wired
PTT signal
generated by the G4ZLP interface unit disconnected from the rig and, although
it's quite
difficult to be absolutely sure, I don't think the results were significantly
different to what I'd
previously reported - there still seemed to be a bit of a lag between
initiating Tune and the rig
actually going into Tx mode and the onset of the audio. However...
It's just occurred to me that a (possibly significant) factor in my setup is
that I've got a K9JM
CI-V router between the PC and the IC-7610's CI-V port to which the CAT
commands from
the PC are sent - the presence of the K9JM device in the CAT data connection
between PC
and rig will almost certainly be adding a bit of latency into the CAT command
path.
Although the virtual COM port connection between the PC and the K9JM router
runs at
38.4kbps the CI-V connection from the router to the 7610 is only running at
9.6kbps - I think
that's the default for the K9JM router's CI-V ports which I didn't change when
I added the
router into my system a couple of years ago.
So, my observations of a Tx-start delay when using the Rig split option and CAT
for PTT in
my system should probably be heavily caveat'ed and taken with a large pinch of
salt - there
are potentially several aspects of my particular overall configuration that
could be leading, or
at least contributing, to what I've observed. Perhaps I should try using a
direct USB
connection between PC and the IC-7610 for the CAT control - I'll see if I can
do that
sometime.

Hi Martin,
thanks for that information. Even if it does turn out to be the K9JM
CI-V router, that's useful information to have. Are you using it because
you have a PW-1?
