Hi Dave, 

Your proposal of displaying home when no task is selected appears very 
convenient. That could eliminate the need to make any adjustments and people 
could just fly around always knowing the way back, especially those not 
familiar with the system, E.G. clubmates flying borrowed gliders. 

On days when the weather is unstable or only locally flyable, I use to fly 
around, trying to reach turnpoints not too far away, or taking visitors for a 
trip round the countryside, though I like to always keep an eye on the risk of 
outlanding, which is not worth taking on days like these. That is what I had in 
mind when talking about enhancing the home box. 

Butterfly has just published a simple version of their iGlide Software. It does 
exactly this: Point you back to the home field automatically. It cannot do much 
else, though, allowing only one pull handle for setting a track to one target 
point and then back. For more, you need to buy the big versions. Their 
interface is very clean, and well adapted for (multi) touch screen use. I like 
the responsive zoom and scroll. Worth a look.
