Oops!

I have just looked into the terrain.jp2 file and am a bit puzzled now.
I have in fact looked into two of these files:
- The one I used, which is a 9 arc resolution
- One I downloaded from the mapgen in full resolution (3 arc)

These two are very much different, as in the hi resolution file, the coastal
regions are low, though at least accurately represented as such. In the 9 arc
file, large square tiles along the coast are completely garbled. This results
in a 'wet' but usable 3 arc file, and an unusable 9 arc file.

To see the difference see this file: Comparison
Upper half is the 3 arc image, lower half is the same region as a 9 arc image.

The 3 arc file is dead slow on a HP iPAQ310, though.
Now, what if I use the 3arc but crank it trough an image compressor first to
match the resolution of the 9 arc image and maybe even compress it a bit more?
