Hi Max, 

I just had this discussion elsewhere. In Northern Germany, which is sure quite 
populated but also has rather few topographical features, you definitely want 
the names of small towns, and if it only was to tell your team buddies where 
you're currently hanging out. 

The level of small-town labeling in the old maps was at the minimum, in my 
opinion.
