In my opinion, you're looking for a software fix for a hardware fault. If
you're suffering failures, something has occurred to make the SD card reader
on the devices in question unreliable. It may be dirt or corrosion on the SD
card reader contacts, the same on the SD card itself, or some other obscure
cause. The question is, why trust the remaining hardware?
