If you're feeling intimidated, remember that you can always say "I'm not
sure, but I _think_ the answer is..."
(Gods know I often rely on that. I've never actually gone through the
Xerces-C code. I tend to rely on "Well, the standard says this, and I know
the Java code did it that way two years ago, so if I look at this part of
the documentation... OK, it looks similar.")
