Do you run your own xmodmap command when logging in? Some of the keys don't behave quite the way they used to: The VT switch sequences, for example, now have an explicit X key symbol, which caught me out for a while: Also, try running xkeycaps or similar and see what it thinks your ALTGR key is set to.
No, I don't use my own xmodmap. xkeycaps does not exist. What is similar to xkeycaps?
How and where do I define AltGr to be a dead key? I have read the man page for xmodmap and read about xkb on the web but I could not figure out how to fix this bug.
