Title: RE: Using XSLT..

It's the problem with any inter organization trading situation.  It's the reason all forms of EDI meet resistance, not data formats or transport schemes or VAN charges or any of the other "answers" being given by evangelists of one stripe or another.

There's a standard way to arrive at a definition of terms in X12.  Call your trading partner and talk about it.  As long as you don't have an enforced definition of terms, and I'd really like to see someone get Sears and Wal-Mart to reach agreement on something like this, you will have to deal with those differences in any format.

The question I keep asking and that is finally being answered honestly is; how does XML resolve differences in the meaning of "ship date?"

This is the bite of XML. There is no standard way of defining anything.
Only a standard way of how to define.
