I have to tell you all a funny story. Last February, I "discovered" a LNS
near my home. I stopped in and just stared in wonder at all the beautiful
charts, fabrics, accessories, etc. that were packed into a 5 room shop. I was
used to seeing only Dimension and Leisure Art charts at my local Michael's
store. Anyway, on the wall was hanging a Hardanger model. I was quite
interested in this lacy piece and thought it the most beautiful design I've
ever seen. I asked the girl working at the shop, "Oooohhh, can you purchase
fabric like this?" I was referring to the drawn thread work of the Hardanger
piece! Thank goodness she didn't laugh at me. I was embarrassed enough
already after she told me that it was cut and stitched that way! A few
minutes later, I was browsing through the new shipment of charts when I came
across Emie Bishop's Dreams. I instantly fell in love. I asked the girls
what would be necessary to be able to stitch this piece. They started me on
my way and here I am 1 year later with Dreams no longer a "dream." It is
finally completed and I am taking it to my framer's tonight! Wahoo! So,
those of you that are afraid to try different needle techniques, don't. If
you've ever seen Dreams, you will know that it is an intricate, advanced
Hardanger piece and if a silly girl that wanted to "purchase" Hardanger-
looking fabric could stitch this piece, then anyone can!
