I have finally finished a project I was working on for three months!! It's
a baby plaque (cross stitch on Aida) with two pink baby feet centered on the
fabric and below the feet I have embroidered the baby's name and birth date.
To finish it off, I put a picture in each of the four corners (a rocking
horse, a rubber duck, a rattle, and a star with a smiley face) and must
admit I did pretty good without a pattern. I can finally do a happy dance
!!!
And now I just started a present for my Aunt for July. I am stitching
kitchen towels for her with a heart border that says "Home Sweet Home". I
have finished the border on the two towels but can not decide on the font I
would like to use for the letters. Guess I'll try to finish those this
week. It's not a very difficult or time-consuming project but instead of
using two plies of DMC I used three and it gives the towels a thick
embroidered look. They make a great addition to any kitchen. Then I have
to get started on Christmas presents after I finish all of these birthday
presents. That's all I'm giving this year. I get so tired year after year
of fighting the crowds and shopping and wondering if I got the wrong thing.
None of my family and friends know how to cross stitch and are all
fascinated by it so it really goes a long way for these people to receive
something like this, and that makes me feel better about giving them.
(exceptions, of course, would be boyfriend, brother, dad).
Happy stitching everybody!
Kristine
