I aggree with Carolyn. You are not being too paranoid. For all but the
first mail lists I've joined (when I was an internet newbie), I've opened
free email accounts on the net to use.
The free accounts mailboxes keep the stuff from clogging up my "home
address." I think of it as having email PO Boxes. This acts as a
"firewall" of sorts. This is especially helpful if you read and post to
Newsgroups--as the junk/spam mailers go into those and "sweep" addresses to
do mailings.
Free mailboxes are available through several places online: Hotmail, Yahoo,
dejanews. Onelist, iVillage probably have them. There are lots of others
that I haven't tripped over yet.
