In that case, I think I'll continue as now until 0.9, and call the ebuild 
pre-0.9 or something like that. 

All my ebuilds are masked, BTW. And the Gentoo team doesn't seem to want to 
care to include the ebuilds in portage, so it's only the few that actually 
such for the bug, download the ebuild and install it that benefit. All that 
to say that I'm not distributing xtla as stable software.

Thanks for the info! I'm naturally bad at hanging out in IRC, so I miss almost 
everything there...
