I've never seen this problem... either with my own usage or in forums.  When
you did the uninstall/reinstall, did you download a full version of YM from
one of the 3rd party sites like filehippo.com or did you use the YM
installer version from messenger.yahoo.com?

as well.  It seems that the installer version that Yahoo puts out seems to
have a bigger chance of having a corrupted .dll file or other file which
causes YM to have glitches and quirks.

About two months ago I started encountering a periodic problem where after a
point (could be 10 minutes to 2 days) any new IM window that messenger
opened would not show anything in the message area. So I could not see
anything a user was sending me and while I could see what I was typing in
the msg entry area, it would not show in the main area once I sent it. The
user I had the IM with could see my messages. The only remedy was to
shutdown and restart the IM program. I tried a full uninstall and reinstall
but it still happens. I contacted yahoo about this and ran in diagnostic
mode, making a few reports but never heard back from them (big surprise).

Has anyone had this problem and overcome it?
I am seriously considering going to another messenger client.
I am using XP with all of the latest updates.
