I've never seen this problem... either with my own usage or in forums. When you did the uninstall/reinstall, did you download a full version of YM from one of the 3rd party sites like filehippo.com or did you use the YM installer version from messenger.yahoo.com?

It seems that the installer version that Yahoo puts out seems to have a bigger chance of having a corrupted .dll file or other file which causes YM to have glitches and quirks.
