I did a full uninstall/install (including the download manager) 
directly from the yahoo site. 

There was one other person on this forum who described a similar 
issue from, I believe, 2005.  I had initially replied to that 
message but it was before my membership was accepted and my message 
was lost. It was not easy to find again.
