The "download manager" from Yahoo is what leads to many problems.  Go the
link I gave you and read over how to do a good uninstall and reinstall with
a FULL version of YM, rather than that installer version from Yahoo.

For all of my local friends and family with YM problems, I've done it this
way and there are rarely recurring problems... but for the people that use
Yahoo's installer version, there's all kinds of quirks.

I did a full uninstall/install (including the download manager) directly
from the yahoo site. 

There was one other person on this forum who described a similar issue from,
I believe, 2005. I had initially replied to that message but it was before
my membership was accepted and my message was lost. It was not easy to find
again.
