Zhijie Shen commented on YARN-1399:
-----------------------------------
I'm okay wit the new proposal, though it seems to be a bit much for the purpose
of compatibility. However, that's the situation.
What Sandy has suggested is a quick solution for CLI, and it can help to hide
the two APIs in backend. However, IMHO, while may people use CLI to get the app
list, the other choices are always there. At least, I'm more comfortable with
web services to watch the app list. It's good to ensure the same compatibility
via command line, web services and programmatic interface (YarnClient needs to
be adapted as well?)

> Nowadays, when submitting an application, users can fill the applicationType
> field to facilitate searching it later. IMHO, it's good to accept multiple
> tags to allow users to describe their applications in multiple aspects,
> including the application type. Then, searching by tags may be more efficient
> for users to reach their desired application collection. It's pretty much
> like the tag system of online photo/video/music and etc.
