I have been following the debate around this issue on whether Utata sold
the black people, which issue remains relevant on who should and how to
control the country's wealth.

I can't resist myself to ask a question whether this debate is premature
or not? It is good in principle to debate legacy of Nelson Mandela in
particular whether when he left prison Nationalisation of country's wealth
was a given for him, which issue when the ANC assumed power became mute(
1994 era)and now the issue has come to the shore.

Why I ask the question:

Recently and now we are experiencing another setback of this move in the
NDR in the form of land redistribution and restitution where farms are
given to the previously disadvantage communities (PDC) and these farms
remain uproductive. PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG I'M NOT SUGGESTING IN ANYWAY
THAT PDC CANNOT DO WITHOUT THE MINORITY. All I'm arguing is that the
essential requirement of capacity to manage these resources is still
lacking mainly to the majority of PDC and therefore this exercise has
proven not to be an option.

If my understanding is correct I would think that it will be an
intelligent move to first empower ourselves on how to effectively run our
country's wealth before taking full control of the resources. By the way
it took years for the Boers to systematically introduce apharthied and
empower themselves to effectively run our country's wealth. I sincerely do
not think that we can raise this debate at this stage of our democracy and
insist on taking control of the wealth while we have practical examples of
such initiatives that fell through the crack viz the lack of skills and
capacity to effectively run and manage the country's wealth.

In conclusion Nationalisation of country's resources is a vital issue in
the NDR and must not be ignored at all cost but should we be mindful as to
when the issue can be raised and possible implemented.

Can anyone aks why the issue is being raised at this stage of the NDR?
