MARKET TODAY Market is likely to open flat today as the weakness across global equities showed no sign of respite. U.S. stocks closed sharply lower with Dow falling below the 7,000-level for the first time since 1997. Asian stocks slumped for a second day, extending a global rout, worsening investor confidence in the global economy. However, with the schedule of the Lok Sabha polls formally announced, there is no scope for any fresh government measures to shore up the economy (or the market). Therefore, all eyes will be on the RBI to unveil fresh doses of monetary stimulus.
According to data released by the NSE, in the last session, FIIs were net sellers of index futures to the tune of Rs 343.92 crore while bought index options worth Rs 90.87 crore. They were net sellers of stock futures to the tune of Rs 5.51 crore while bought stock options worth Rs 212.99 crore.
