Hi, the x86_64 thing on the login is rather effectless.
The real problems are : 1) That the large upgrade cannot be done at once but rather in 2-3 steps. You have to do smart upgrade several times until it does not install any longer new packages. 2) The earlier perl rebuilds have been broken. The last one does work here. Since yaird ( the mkinitrd replacement ) does rely on perl it failed earlier. 3) If a new kernel is installed you have to verify manually that there is a new initrd in /boot/ . Only reboot when you verified this. If not you have to manually create a new initrd image. Furthermore you have to add the new kernel manually to your bootloader. There are ways to do this automatically . But it only works for grub and lilo anyway. Also you still have to do this manually if you have an uncommon bootloader setup. 4) Smart install urw-fonts to solve the squared letters. I don't know how to get the fonts back, looking nice. Fabian any ideas ? regards -- Tobias Gerschner Member of Board of Yoper Ltd. NZ Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
