        Hi Tamara,

I purchased Office 2008, hoping that after I upgrade that I will be able to

office X (or get 2004) or how to do any of that.

At least Office 2008 doesn't have the same hard limit Office X had. That should help.
The file called Database looks way too small to have all your data.
ENtourage is not too bad in the rebuild process: it doesn't trash the previous (potentially corrupted) version of the database: it renames it and keeps it in the same folder. If you rename any of the Old Database files to Database, they will be used by Entourage as your identity. You might want to consider using that trick if you launch Entourage 2008 in order to make sure it attempts to import from the most complete version of your database.

The fact that the previous identity is simply being renamed and not trashed explains why you need to have at least the size of your database available on your hard drive in order to rebuild.

The root of the problem is that your database reached the 4GB limit of Entourage X. Rebuilding *should* have cleaned and compacted your database somehow and this should have been enough to open the identity. Apparently, something went wrong during the rebuild.

On a side note (but related), if you manage to open an old identity you think you can work with, delete what you don;t need before you attempt to rebuild, to make sure that the rebuilding process will be able to free even more space from the database.
