Thanks for the response Diane and Roger. So I've done the following:
- Submitted the bug to Connect (no reply yet, what's the expectation?)
- Rebuilt the DB
- Gone in through Outlook and deleted messages in all my Exchange server
folders
- Verified that Entourage works on a new login on my machine to the same
exchange server
- Noticed that my calendar alerts are still working fine, even though I
can't launch Entourage.
Looking through this set of facts, I am left thinking that something in my DB
is corrupt. Maybe there is a mail message in one of my computer folders that
is causing the problem? Who knows. But what steps can I take to try to get
back up and running? Without losing the 4 - 5 Gb of data in my old DB, that
is. Can I start Entourage in my real user login in safe mode, or something
similar, to try to repair the damage?
Your accumulated wisdom as to next step would be greatly appreciated.
-Bob
p.s. - Summer hasn't really started here in the northeast. Does that mean the
new Entourage release is delayed?

I'm assuming this is the EWS beta. You should log into the Connect site and
submit the log and the problem.
I'm not on the beta so can't give any help, but in general if there is a
problem, you can test in a new blank Identity to eliminate problems in your
current database.
If that fails....
To eliminate problem in your User's folder, Go to System Preferences -->
Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or
use Fast User Switching. Test Entourage first in a new Identity. If that
works, then bring over via Shared folder your current Identity and see if it
works in the new User.
We hear that by end of summer, the final version will be released. Don't ask
when end of summer is. I have no clue. :-)
