While Roger just reported a failure, I can report success on my older,
non-virgin HD with the two updates that were distributed by Microsoft
earlier this week. The first, which updated various components of Office
2008 12.2.4 for Mac worked pretty much as usual.
The second, which
focused on revisions to open XML documents, appeared to have
"hung" as the progress bar stayed still just after starting for
a long time, perhaps 10 minutes (no other applications stressing the
capacity of my laptop). So, I opened the Activity monitor and saw there
was life, just not displayed progress.
Eventually the progress bar moved to the right and the result was declared
a success by the installer.
Everything worked fine on
restart.
